Coronation Street fans can probably feel it already that uncomfortable sense that something big is coming, and it’s not going to be easy to watch. One storyline has been quietly turning darker, with small but worrying moments stacking up over time. Now, with Corriedale just around the corner, fresh comments from one of the stars suggest viewers should prepare themselves for some truly shocking scenes.
Things Haven’t Felt Right For Todd For A Long Time
Theo Silverton has been making Todd Grimshaw’s life miserable for months now, carrying out his abusive behaviour behind closed doors while keeping up appearances in public. Although a few Weatherfield locals have started to notice that something isn’t quite right, Theo has stayed one step ahead by manipulating situations and twisting the truth to make Todd look like the aggressor. Because of that, Theo has managed to keep control of the situation, even as suspicion grows.

Todd, meanwhile, has become more isolated, and viewers have watched the imbalance in their relationship become harder to ignore. The tension ramped up even more after it was confirmed that Theo and Todd are both part of the full list of 41 Coronation Street and Emmerdale characters appearing in the upcoming Corriedale crossover. With the hour-long special bringing so many storylines together, fans have been bracing themselves for some dark and intense moments.
James Cartwright Opens Up About Theo’s Dark Side
At the Corriedale red carpet premiere in Bradford this week, James Cartwright finally spoke about Theo Silverton’s storyline and his words didn’t offer much comfort. When asked what Theo would be getting up to in the special episode, James hinted that viewers will see him do some unexpected things that feel out of character, alongside behaviour that sadly won’t come as a surprise at all. James was brutally honest when describing Theo as a person.

He said Theo is a monster, explaining that the character doesn’t see himself as bad and genuinely believes he starts out with the best intentions. However, James added that Theo’s narcissism and behaviour bordering on sociopathy have completely taken over. According to the actor, Theo only gets worse as the story goes on, reaching a point where he becomes totally unredeemable. Even more unsettling, Theo genuinely believes he loves Todd, and it’s that warped idea of loving someone too much that drives his actions.
James admitted that when he reads the scripts, there are moments that make him react in disbelief at just how far Theo goes. Despite the dark storyline, James also shared how much he has enjoyed being part of such a big moment for the show. Show bosses have already revealed that Billy Mayhew will uncover Theo’s abusive behaviour in the coming weeks, with that discovery set to cause serious tension at Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding.
