As Carla Connor heads toward one of the most dangerous chapters of her Coronation Street journey, the spotlight has turned firmly to how her story unfolds and what lies at the end of it. Now that Corriedale is bringing large-scale chaos and serious consequences, Alison King has opened up about what she hoped to see for Carla as she read through the scripts.

Alison King’s Reaction to Carla’s Coronation Street Journey

Speaking ahead of the Corriedale crossover, Alison King admitted she had no expectations at all that Carla Connor would play a major role in the special episodes. When she first received the script, she was left confused rather than excited.

Alison explained that as she began reading, she assumed Carla would barely feature. She shared that she kept thinking there were no words on the page for her character and wondered what on earth was going on.

At that stage, Alison genuinely believed Carla might be absent from the heart of the storyline altogether. Given everything Carla had already been dealing with on Coronation Street, she did not expect the character to be pulled into something even bigger. It was only as she read further that the scale of Corriedale slowly became clear and Carla’s place within it started to make sense.

Carla’s Story Reaches a Breaking Point

As Alison continued reading through the scripts, she realised Carla was heading straight into the middle of serious danger. The pages were filled with twists, turns, and large-scale destruction. So, it’s clear that Corriedale would be anything but small for her character. At the same time, Carla’s personal storyline has already pushed her to the edge.

CS/ Becky holds Carla captive

She has been held hostage by Becky Swain, locked inside an airing cupboard to keep her away from Lisa Swain. Carla had been close to uncovering Becky’s crimes after snooping around the flat of the woman. However, Becky’s actions were driven less by fear of exposure and more by her obsession with reclaiming Lisa.

After reading page after page of chaos and destruction, Alison admitted there was just one thing she truly wanted. She revealed that her biggest hope was simply that Carla would still be alive at the end of Corriedale. She laughed as she shared this and makes it clear that survival alone felt like a victory. Whether that hope becomes reality remains uncertain. For all the latest Coronation Street and Emmerdale spoilers and updates, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily.
