Vernon’s Scene Hit Closer Than Expected
Clifton Davis, who plays Vernon Dupree, opened up about a scene that felt real for him. It happened while they were filming the Articulettes storyline. He shared about this in a video. And it was posted on the soap’s official Instagram account. He spoke about the moment when Anita is ready to leave town for rehearsals. Moreover, her luggage was kept at the door. For both of them, it wasn’t just a normal scene.
He described the manner in which Vernon was gazing at Anita and came to the understanding that he would be the one left all by himself. In addition to that, in the story, it was his responsibility to convey to her how deeply he loved her and how greatly he would miss her. Unfortunately, she was just going away for a job. David said that at that moment, something changed for him. He suddenly felt that she was leaving in a real way, away from the script.
Then he looked at Tamara Tunie, who plays Anita. He told her how much she meant to him and that he would miss her and kissed her. Moreover, in the scene, that part was there too. And then he laughed. Later, he had to control himself as he is a married man. Tamara also responded to the video. It was a reminder that they are actors and they know how to handle these moments professionally. Daphnée Duplaix, who plays Nicole, also added her side of the story in the same video. She said that Tamara was actually leaving for another project in real life. And so the scene felt so connected to them both off-screen and on-screen. And when Vernon was dealing with Anita walking out, Davis saw Tunie away for weeks.
