There have constantly been a lot of changes behind the scenes on General Hospital in the last year alone. Starting from multiple recasts to numerous writing team changes. And right when things started to settle down, yet another round of shakeups has hit the lone-standing ABC soap!
Reports reveal that, Patrick Mulcahey, who alongside Elizabeth Korte replaced Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor has head scribes, is now out of General Hospital! Yup, even before fans could actually see the full effect of the plot changes his writing would have brought to the show, the man and his pen have bowed out.
The word is that whatever changes that his writing had started to bring in were being completely rejected by the loyal General Hospital fanbase. The new stories were a total disaster, to say the least. The overnight transitions the PC characters made were an absolute train wreck, and did not sit well with the fans at all.
Rumors had been building around this for a while now. However, Soap Opera Digest has now confirmed that General Hospital has indeed booted Patrick to the curb. But that’s not all. It appears that Chris Van Etten is back in the writing room! The May 14, 2024, episode once again featured Chris’ name in the credits.
Now, BuzzWorthy Radio is confirming that Chris Van Etten is definitely back to the ABC soap. Well, hopefully he will find a way to undo the damage the new writing from Patrick had done to General Hospital, and restore the fan faith back into the soap. Interestingly, not too long ago actress Alley Mills had accidentally spilled Chris’ return in an interview with Michael Fairman.

I know a lot of people were upset that Anna and Laura were acting hateful towards Sonny especially since Laura brother has done a lot worse and Anna being a double agent ( no room to talk) it doesn’t fit their characters. Also a lot of history was being changed! Laura trying to get Heather out of jail( what is up with that) and this is the best one, you’re going to try and get us to believe that Carly doesn’t know when Sonny isn’t taking his medication she knows Sonny better than herself Carly would have walked Sonny down to the hospital to get his blood work done!!
