Last year, the soap aired many dramatic plots. The soap fans were shocked to see Anthony and Ruby’s plot. They learned that Anthony had sexually abused her, and even Steph was a result of it. So to seek revenge, Ruby killed him.
Many villagers helped cover up the crime. Another storyline that captured viewers’ attention was Robert’s return, who tried to crash John and Aaron’s wedding but was unsuccessful. John’s hero complex also shocked the viewers.
The soap viewers also loved the storylines revolving around Kev, who arrived in the village as Robert’s prison husband. The viewers loved his humour. They also loved Lewis’s entry. They were shocked to know about his connection to Kev. Elsewhere, one of the most intense storylines has been the drug plot.
Ray and Celia shook the village by trapping April, Bear and Dylan. They forced Dylan into drug dealing, April into sex slavery and Bear into modern-day slavery. The viewers remained divided as some of them liked the plot, while some were frustrated.

Meanwhile, a soap fan took to Facebook to share their opinion. They wrote that Emmerdale is a drama serial, so it has to show conflict and hardship, it will be boring. The soap is supposed to keep the fans engaged. It highlights messy relationships, crimes, illness and loss.
Though the drug dealing and modern-day slavery plots were hard to watch, they addressed the real issues happening in society. Furthermore, there were big events like crossover crashes and character development. The fan also added that as the soap airs every week, the issues can’t be resolved overnight. They can’t disappear magically. That would be unrealistic.
At the end, they praised the soap and encouraged them to bring more drama.
