Daniel Brocklebank’s time on Coronation Street has officially come to an end, and this time there is no coming back. Coronation Street Star Speaks Out After Being Axed

Daniel Brocklebank has said a true farewell to the ITV soap after producers decided to write him out, ending his 12-year stint as Billy Mayhew. His departure became permanent when the recent crossover with Emmerdale, nicknamed “Corriedale”, killed Billy off in explosive scenes earlier this month. This week’s episodes showed Billy’s funeral, giving viewers emotional closure and confirming there would be no surprise return.

The scenes marked the end of a character who had spent years at the heart of major storylines and relationships on the Street. After those episodes aired, Brocklebank shared a goodbye message that left little doubt about his feelings. He told fans, “Well, that’s it. Final goodbye to Billy & my 11 years of being part of that special @coronationstreet family,” making it clear he sees this as the end of an era.

The Exit Storyline That Sealed Billy’s Fate

Brocklebank didn’t just say goodbye; he also looked back warmly on his time on the soap. He praised the writers and said he loved the scripts they gave him. Daniel also left a hopeful note about the future, saying that while he says goodbye, he also says hello to new adventures.

Producers chose to axe the character, and Brocklebank now moves on after over a decade of steady presence on one of Britain’s biggest soaps. Writers gave Billy a dramatic and tragic ending. Villain Theo discovered that Billy knew about his abuse of Todd Grimshaw and his efforts to help Todd get away. That knowledge put Billy directly in danger.

After a minibus crash, Theo appeared ready to help Billy escape. But when Billy told him he believed there was still good in him, Theo turned on him, strapped him back into his seat, and left him trapped as fire spread. Viewers know Carl Webster overheard the confession and may use it against him, while Todd remains stuck under Theo’s control. Even so, for Brocklebank himself, the story is already over, his final goodbye has been said, and his 12-year journey on the cobbles has truly ended.
