Coronation Street favourite Beverley Callard has shared an emotional new update just days after undergoing breast cancer surgery, and this time she has not held back about how frightened she feels. Four days after her operation, the soap legend admitted she is struggling to eat, feels exhausted, and is battling anxious thoughts about what comes next.

Beverley Callard Admits She’s Struggling After Surgery

The 68-year-old actress revealed on February 19 that she would undergo a “big operation” the following day. Doctors planned to remove lymph nodes as a precautionary step to ensure the cancer had not spread. Since then, she has kept fans informed about her recovery journey.

On the fourth day after surgery, Beverley admitted she was finding things much harder than expected. She explained she had not posted the previous day because she felt “completely knackered” and could not do anything at all.

She spent the day drifting in and out of sleep and said she “couldn’t even comb” her hair. She also revealed that she has completely lost her appetite. Her husband Jon, whom she married in 2010, has stepped in to make sure she eats. She said he has been “force feeding” her because she has “no appetite whatsoever, but I’m trying.” She clarified that she is not in pain, but she feels very sore under her arm and still has surgical dressings in place.

Fears About Her Appearance And Waiting For Answers

Emotional worries have now begun to trouble Beverley as she continues recovering. She openly admitted that she feels scared about how she might look after surgery. She said she does not know how she looks and that the thought of seeing the results frightens her.

The actress spoke honestly about her insecurities. She wondered whether she and Jon would still be “swinging from the chandeliers” and questioned if she would “still be attractive or not.” Those thoughts continue to run through her mind as she waits for answers.

Hope still remains for the Corrie star. She confirmed she has a hospital appointment scheduled for 11 a.m., where doctors will tell her whether she needs a second operation. Uncertainty weighs heavily on her, yet she reassured fans by saying, “I’m doing OK. I’m doing OK.” Earlier this month, Beverley disclosed that doctors detected her breast cancer in the early stages. She confirmed she will require radiotherapy as part of her treatment.

She decided to speak publicly about her diagnosis after feeling inspired by “strong, feisty women” who have opened up about their own health battles. Now, as she waits for doctors to confirm whether she needs further surgery, Beverley is taking each day as it comes. She has faced cancer before and overcome it, and she clearly intends to draw on that resilience again. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
