They said that the movie would be based on Carley Fortune’s hit book, Meet Me at the Lake. Furthermore, Netflix also paid around $3 million for the rights to the novel. However, even after three years, the project is still in development.
It lacks both a director and a cast. Thus, the Hollywood insiders are in a state of bafflement. A Hollywood source told Page Six that three years in development for a movie like this at Netflix isn’t good. Elsewhere, first-look deals work by studios paying the producers to bring them new ideas. If they like the project, then they go ahead with it.
Meanwhile, last September, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also announced an adaptation of Jasmine Guillory’s romantic novel The Wedding Date in September. However, this also remains stuck.
