Concern spreads across Albert Square next week when Lexi Pearce suddenly says she’s feeling unwell in EastEnders. Her announcement immediately puts Callum Highway on edge, as he begins to fear that something serious might be wrong. But as events unfold, it becomes clear that Lexi’s illness may not be purely physical; and Callum worries the young girl may be struggling more than anyone realized.

Callum Begins To Fear Something Is Wrong With Lexi in EastEnders

Callum’s worry begins when Lexi insists that she feels ill and refuses to go to school. At first, it sounds like a normal childhood complaint, but something about her behavior makes Callum uneasy. He quickly starts to suspect that there might be more behind her sudden illness.

The concern comes at a difficult time for everyone close to Nigel Bates. Since Nigel moved into a care home due to his worsening dementia, the emotional impact has been felt across Albert Square.

While some residents try to remain optimistic about the situation, others are finding the adjustment far more difficult. Phil Mitchell is one of those struggling the most. Even though he knows the decision to move Nigel into full-time care was the right one, Phil can’t shake the feeling that he has somehow abandoned his longtime friend.

Because of that guilt, he has been avoiding the care home entirely. Nearly a week has passed since Nigel moved in, and Phil still hasn’t visited him. Instead of confronting those emotions, Phil throws himself into supporting his sister Sam Mitchell.

Lexi’s Visit To Nigel Leaves Callum Even More Concerned

Phil’s plans with Sam are interrupted when Callum arrives at the hospital with Lexi, who clearly has something on her mind. Lexi has been missing Nigel terribly, and her bond with him runs deep.

She had grown especially close to him and even played a key role in helping repair the relationship between Nigel and his daughter when she returned to his life. With Phil unavailable to take her, Callum steps in and brings Lexi to the care home along with Julie so she can visit Nigel herself.

The visit turns into an emotional moment for everyone involved. Nigel appears to be in reasonably good spirits, which comforts Lexi. She feels relieved when she sees that his room has been filled with photographs and mementos from his life in Walford, giving him a sense of familiarity in the new environment. Still, Phil’s absence lingers over the reunion. Although he has a genuine reason for not being there, there’s a sense that Julie hoped he would make the effort to visit.

When Callum, Julie, and Lexi return to Albert Square, Lexi initially seems brighter after seeing Nigel. However, Callum soon begins to notice that her emotions may be far more complicated than she is letting on. The following day, Lexi suddenly tells Callum that she feels ill and refuses to go to school. Her claim immediately worries him. But he soon realizes that this might not be the first time she has tried to avoid school. As Callum pieces things together, he suspects that Lexi’s illness may actually be her way of coping with everything.

Determined to address the situation, Callum gently confronts her. He explains that he understands she’s dealing with a lot emotionally. But he also warns that missing school cannot become a habit.

If Lexi keeps refusing to attend lessons, Callum tells her he may have no choice but to take her to see a doctor. Lexi simply wants to stay close to Phil and Sam rather than face the outside world. The biggest fear now is that Lexi’s distress may run deeper than anyone first realised. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more EastEnders spoilers.
