A new twist is about to shake things up in Coronation Street, and it involves a team-up that nobody wanted to see. Villain Theo Silverton is taking his manipulative behaviour even further as he continues trying to cut Todd Grimshaw off from the people who care about him.
Upcoming scenes confirm that Theo forms a surprising alliance while plotting to remove George Shuttleworth from Todd’s life, and the move could make his control over Todd even stronger.
Theo Sees An Opportunity To Turn Annie Against George
Theo Silverton has spent recent weeks tightening his control over Todd Grimshaw. His behaviour became particularly disturbing last month when he repeatedly criticised Todd’s physique and pushed him into punishing exercise routines.
Todd tried to keep the peace by doing long runs, hoping to prove himself to his fiancé. Eventually his body could not keep up. Todd collapsed in the street after exhausting himself during another run. George Shuttleworth and Christina Boyd happened to be nearby and quickly helped him back to the undertakers.
Once there, they noticed Todd’s sore and bloodied feet, which made them even more concerned about what he had been putting himself through. George already has enough problems of his own. Annie recently accused him of defrauding her elderly mother during funeral arrangements.
The allegation left George upset and under pressure. Theo soon realised that Annie’s anger could work perfectly for his own plan.
Theo Forms A Team-Up No One Asked For
Next Thursday’s episode on 12 March shows Theo putting his scheme into action. He approaches Annie while pretending to be another unhappy customer, encouraging her doubts about George and strengthening the claims against him.
The interaction creates the surprising alliance that Theo needs to target Todd’s boss. Actor James Cartwright explained that Theo’s aim is to isolate Todd completely. Theo does not want anyone influencing Todd or challenging his behaviour. George remains the person Todd trusts most, which makes him the biggest obstacle to Theo’s control.
Cartwright revealed that Theo tells Annie a completely fabricated story. He claims George once tried to fleece him while organising his mother in law’s funeral. The story is entirely false, but Theo believes removing George will clear the path for him and Todd to stay together without interference. The actor also teased that Theo will continue to surprise viewers. He said the character is capable of doing things people might expect and other actions that no one will see coming.
