Wendy Playfair Is No More!
The family of Wendy Playfair confirmed that the actress passed away calmly nearly 4 months before her 100th birthday. Her family shared a statement via a Prisoner fan page in which they paid tribute to her long career and her influence on Australian entertainment. They described her as a gifted actress who for a very long time has been performing in theatre, radio and mainly television.

Wendy played Minnie Donovan on Prisoner. She has also appeared in well-known Australian shows. This includes Home and Away, A Country Practice, All Saints, Spirited and Rake. After she passed away, fans paid tribute to her. One wrote, “What a great life! R.I.P. Windy. I loved her character so much.”
Another added, “Brilliant character, wonderful actress and a great Top Dog. RIP, dear.” Wendy was also a part of the Australian film Accidents Happen. She shared the screen with film star Geena David. And now fans’ comments show how deeply she was loved.
Wendy’s Guest Role In Home and Away
Wendy appeared on the show for two guest roles. She first appeared as Evelyn Grey. Moreover, it was a small guest role where she portrayed an elderly resident of Summer Bay. However, she returned after four years as a completely different character.

Playfair appeared as Audrey Long after four years. And the storyline involved a family reunion. Audrey was the grandmother of Mel(played by Saskia Burmeister). Mel accidentally bumps into her mother and Audrey. However, both of whom she mistakenly believed were in New Zealand.
And all this happened when Mel’s lateness caused the local community centre to be shut down prematurely. Playfair has had a 50-year career in Australian media.
