It took her a while, but Nina has finally wrapped her head around her divorce from Sonny on General Hospital. However, the story is quite different for Nina’s real-life portrayer- Cynthia Watros. She is still struggling with not being able to work with her former regular co-stars Maurice Benard and Maura West.
In a recent chat with First for Women, the General Hospital star opened up about how the storyline changes have affected her. “I’m mourning not being able to see my friends anymore,” Cynthia admitted. She understands that they are just “some words on the page”, and that she is playing a character, she still misses working with Maurice and Maura.
The General Hospital actress pointed that she often sees the two working on a different set and wonders what they’re doing. Speaking about Nina’s latest hookup partner, hot-bod Drew, she confessed that she totally did not see the curveball coming.
Turns out, when General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini first texted her that she had a steamy scene coming up, she thought Nina and Sonny were reconciling. Yet, for confirmation, Cynthia texted back asking who it would be. And to her shock, Frank replied “Drew”. Understandably, she was confused, she couldn’t understand how it would happen.
But once they started filming it on set, she quickly understood how it would all come together. Speaking about the future, Cynthia admitted that she doesn’t know where their story would go on General Hospital. However, she did say that Nina and Drew are “very raw with each other.”
