The Trooping the Colour ceremony took place on Saturday, and some faces were notably missing. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not a part of the King’s Birthday parade this year.
The couple stepped down from their royal responsibilities in 2020, and since then, they have not participated in any royal events. A royal expert recently revealed that Prince Harry has regrets about certain things regarding the event. Let’s find out in detail.
Prince Harry Has Regrets, Didn’t Attend Trooping The Colour 2024
Prince Harry made a firm decision to leave his royal roots behind in 2020, and since then, he has been living in LA with his wife. However, Harry regrets not attending the 2024 Trooping the Colour event this year.
This event marks the birthday of the UK monarch. Prince Harry was snubbed from the annual military parade held to celebrate Charles’ birthday. Furthermore, this event was a landmark moment as Kate made an appearance in public since December amid her cancer battle.
We know if the Royal Family did not estrange the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they would have attended the event. But, the duo spent their day in their LA home. Furthermore, a royal commentator also shed light on the situation and said Prince Harry regrets not attending the event.
While speaking to The Sun, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said, “I think when it comes to military matters, Harry has always taken an interest. I think that he does unquestionably view the way the break has occurred with the Royal Family. Which, as I say, in my opinion, is the fault of the Sussexes.”
Royal family fans know that Harry and Meghan mentioned that they were not treated properly while they were in the UK. The couple is allegedly looking for an apology from the senior royals. To this, Fitzwilliams continued, “We know they wanted an apology from the Royal Family for the way they were treated when they were senior working members of it. They certainly won’t get that. But I do think there will be a certain amount of regret.”
He also pointed out that Prince Harry is connected to the military and that it is only natural for him to feel any kind of regret. However, the royal expert mentioned that Meghan would feel ‘indifferent’ about attending a ceremony like Trooping the Colour. He also remarked how he has “no idea if [Meghan] would or wouldn’t actually watch it”, but he doesn’t think “it would mean a great deal to her”.
In addition, the Sussexes also didn’t make it to the guest list last year, which was the inaugural year that Trooping the Colour happened during King Charles’ reign. The event in London was Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton & her three kids on Saturday, June 15. For more such updates on the royal family, keep following Soap Opera Daily!
