A source said, ‘EastEnders has always tried to represent London, and that’s become a little too true with an outbreak of rats. No one wants to see rodents at work, and they have been causing a headache by chewing props, and it’s pretty gross.’
Furthermore, the source did note in good humour that the pests have not yet invaded the Queen Vic. Even after the visible rat problem, the BBC insists that there’s been no infestation running rampant in Walford. They have confirmed they will resort to specialists if any furry friend shows up uninvited.
The new set opened in 2022 and while speaking about the rodent issue, a show spokeswoman said, “There is no rat infestation at EastEnders but on the odd occasion, if we have suspected an unauthorised visit from a furry visitor, we have called in the specialists.” The rodents seem to like the drama in Walford more than we do!
