The actress left Walford after 16 years and has been away working on a brand-new role. She posted about her gig on social media which has received a lot of love and support from her ex-colleagues. Whitney Actor Shona McGarty Talks About Her New Gig
Long time EastEnders fans know that Shona’s character has been a very important part of the BBC soap for a very long time. Over the years, most viewers had grown to love her and when the news of her departure surfaced, everyone were disappointed to say the least. McGarty’s character on the soap left Walford on a bus with Britney and baby Dolly to start a new life. This happened after her fiance, Zack Hudson, cheated on her with Lauren Branning.
Furthermore, Zack’s infidelity secret was revealed on the day of their wedding, so it was very dramatic just like every soap opera wedding storyline. To make things worse, Whitney found out that her adoptive mother, Bianca, knew about Lauren and Zack, but she hid it from her, so Whitney chose to cut all ties with her.
After leaving EastEnders, Shona started working in theatre, and she recently made her debut in a show called 2:22: A Ghost Story, where she plays the role of Jenny. To share the joy of new beginnings, the star took to Instagram and shared a picture with her co-stars. She wrote, ‘@222aghoststory Gala Night! We are officially OPEN! 👻 What a fantastic night. What a wonderful team! Book your tickets now! @3olympiatheatre Running till 11th August. Can’t wait to see you there! (If you dare!)”

Natalie Cassidy, who is known for her role as Sonia Fowler on BBC soap, wrote, ‘So proud of you.’ Shona left the show after 16 years and it was a big decision. As per reports, the star wanted to explore her other opportunities and is really looking forward to the future.
