Thelma Barlow To Star In A Short Film After 26 Years
Thelma Barlow is back in action after 26 years of leaving the show. The actress was famous for portraying Mavis Wilton. Now, she is starring in a short film, and everyone is excited. Thelma, now 95, has joined the short film ‘Sleepless In Settle,’ where a mother tries to find a wife for her son.
She reunited with Judy Flynn, her co-star from the BBC sitcom ‘Dinnerladies’ who wrote and directed the film. The actress stated, “It was three action-packed days. It took me right back to my early days of rep theatre.” Judy explained that they reconnected at Barbara’s 90th birthday party.
At the party, she proposed writing something specifically for her. Luckily, Thelma agreed. She mentioned that filming with Thelma was a ‘total joy.’ She highlighted the star’s abundant energy and creative ideas. Fans must remember Mavis brought laughs in Corrie’s shop, The Kabin, with her friend Rita (Barbara Knox).
Thelma, who played Rita’s bestie, left the show in 1997. But last year, the two reunited for Barbara’s 90th birthday. The reunion was captured on camera for Barbara’s ITV documentary celebrating her 90th, which came out last autumn.
