Coronation Street icon Thelma Barlow has firmly shut down any hopes of a return to the show, even to bid farewell to her long-time friend Helen Worth. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Barlow revealed that despite her return to acting in a short film, a Corrie comeback is out of the question. Why Is Thelma ‘Scared’ To Go Back To Corrie?
The legendary actress Thelma Barlow has declared she won’t be returning to the cobbles to say goodbye to Helen Worth. Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Barlow talked about her new role in a short movie but made it clear that a comeback as her iconic Corrie character, Mavis Wilson, is off the table.
Host Ed Balls questioned if Thelma Barlow would reconsider her decision to return to Coronation Street if offered a new role, perhaps a cameo for Gail’s departure. Barlow jokingly explained that the idea of returning to Corrie would be too intimidating for her.

She expressed, “No. I’d be far too terrified. I’d be so frightened to do something that was commercial and in a big studio.” Susanna Reid from GMB asked if there was any chance Thelma Barlow could be persuaded to return. Barlow responded, “Never say no, but I would just be too frightened.”
She asked the presenters to stop pressing her on the matter, expressing a desire to be left out. The soap star then spoke about her friendship with Helen Worth. She shared that Worth had shown support for her new film. Let us tell you that Helen, who has played Gail Rodwell since 1974, is leaving after 50 years.
