Mothers are not supposed to choose a favourite amongst their kids, but Princess Diana definitely had one. The late Princess had a strong belief that her younger son possessed more qualities of becoming a future King rather than Prince William.
A royal author, Angela Levin, revealed this information in her 2018 book based on a royal member, ‘Harry: Conversations with the Prince.’ It seems like Diana thought that Prince Harry was more suitable to take over the throne than her elder brother due to some reasons. Read on to find those!
Prince William might be heir to the throne, but Harry would make a better King, Princess Diana thought so. The late mother even came up with a nickname for her youngest: GKH, which stands for Good King Harry.
According to Levin’s 2018 book, as Diana’s sons grew older and wiser, she identified qualities in her youngest and highlighted that he has an ideal temperament. She added that Harry had ‘ease with people,’ ‘general gusto’ and ability to cope with challenges.
Even though William is older and the actual heir to the throne, Diana felt less confident about William’s desire to take on the royal role. Levin reflected on the late Princess’ concerns and quoted her as saying, “William doesn’t want to be King, and I worry about that.
He doesn’t want his every move watched.” Despite acknowledging William’s right as the heir, Diana foresaw Prince Harry handling royal duties more effectively.

Royal family fans have heard Prince Harry mentioning how he wants to live a normal life over the years. He also spoke about this in an interview and said, ‘People would be amazed by the ordinary life William and I live. I do my own shopping. Even if I were King, I would do my own shopping.’
Princess Diana was a loving mother and would want both of her sons to succeed.
