General Hospital star Kate Mansi, known for her role as Kristina, got engaged to film producer Matt McInnis on July 3. The gleeful bride-to-be shared a snap of herself flexing the stunning new ring on Instagram. Meanwhile, McInnis posted a sweet photo of the couple on his own Instagram the following day. Kate Mansi and Matt McInnis Are Engaged!
The General Hospital actress told Soap Opera Digest that she was anticipating a low-key holiday for the 4th of July. She planned to “head to a cabin to get in some much-needed nature time with my closest friends.”
Additionally, from the lush green backdrop in McInnis’s picture, it looks like they made it to that cabin. They had arrived this time with a little extra reason to celebrate! Mansi’s GH co-star and close friend, Kristen Vaganos (Molly), celebrated her engagement by commenting on the post.
She wrote, “The best news to ever hit the internet !!!!!” Anyway, this big announcement doesn’t come as a surprise because the couple has been serious for a while. Last summer, Kate shared her travel photo album with Digest.
It included highlights like an African safari with McInnis and a trip to the East Coast to visit his family. Moreover, Mansi tied the knot with Blake Levin and she opened up about her divorce in October 2023 on the State Of Mind.
Kate explained that after COVID-19 compelled her to cancel her original wedding plans. Subsequently, she had a small legal wedding with the intent to have a larger ceremony later, but Blake changed his mind.
“Six weeks before [the ceremony], he had a crisis of conscience and didn’t want to go through with it.” The former couple did try to work through their issues, but her husband asked for a divorce. “I was broken,” Mansi told Benard. “It was brutal. I felt a lot of shame; I felt like I was a failure.”
However, Mansi collected her inner strength after her marriage fell apart. Furthermore, she recalled a moment of clarity while sitting on her shower floor. Kate was not just grieving the marriage she thought she would have.
She was sad about the future she thought she was going to have. At that moment, Kate felt so much peace and so much freedom. She thought, “No one’s coming to save me. I’ve got to pick myself up from this.”
And that was the first moment she really reclaimed herself! Fortunately, Mansi found true love with McInnis, leaving that painful chapter behind her. Also, they even added a fur baby, Stanley, to their family last year.
