Matthew Marsden, best known for playing mechanic Chris Collins, wants to return to the Cobbles. After a spicy swipe at ITV bosses, could we finally see Chris Collins revving up the drama again? The actor expressed his fondness for Corrie in an interview.
He recalled about his year-long stint on the show. He described it as ‘one of the greatest times’ of his life and emphasised his love for living in Manchester and working with a fantastic cast. After moving to the United States and gaining citizenship, he reflected on how fortunate he felt to have been a part of the show.
The soap star added, “I feel like Chris Collins didn’t really have proper closure.” He acknowledged that the show still holds a special place in his heart as it was his ‘first job.’ Matthew’s character had affairs with Sally Webster, Samantha Failsworth, and Angie Freeman, but now his whereabouts are a mystery.
But let’s not forget that he must first patch things up with the show bosses, as he criticised them back in January. The ITV star also recently responded to a fan’s criticism of a plotline. He wrote that he hadn’t watched the show since leaving in 1998 and expressed surprise that he’d never been invited back.
Fans commented bluntly on his acting abilities, to which he retorted by mentioning a personal anecdote. However, his comeback didn’t impress many fans. After leaving Cobbles in 1998, Matthew pursued a pop career and soared to fame in blockbuster movies like Black Hawk Down, Helen Of Troy, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, and Atlas Shrugged.
However, he continued to create controversies, including the COVID-19 one in 2021. Marsden received hate for telling fans to ‘stop getting tested for Covid.’ Let us see if Corrie lets him return.
