Maureen Lipman revealed some challenges she faced while playing Evelyn Plummer just before news broke that she would take a break from the show. After joining in 2018 as Tyrone Dobbs’ biological grandmother, Maureen found certain aspects ‘tough.’
Now, as she prepares to hit the stage, Evelyn’s temporary departure from the cobbles adds another twist to her journey. After entering Cobbles, Evelyn has been involved in multiple big plots. This includes mending fences with her grandson, moving into No. 9, striking up a friendship with Roy, and reuniting with her long-lost daughter Cassie Plummer.
Maureen Lipman reportedly discussed the challenges of her role, highlighting that there is limited time for rehearsal. She mentioned that the show had a more structured production schedule managed by producers in the past, whereas now, it’s more fast-paced and demanding.
