We already know how evil solicitor Joel Deering is. However, Weatherfield residents, except for the newcomer Betsy Swain, are still in the dark. She knows all about the lawyer and has been blackmailing him for trying to get her best friend, Sabrina Adetiba, drunk. But she doesn’t realise she is playing with fire.
Previously, we discovered that Joel was the reason for Lauren Bolton’s disappearance. After grooming her, he brutally attacked Lauren when she mentioned Dee-Dee Bailey. He even left her for dead in her flat. Luckily, Lauren managed to survive. Currently, Betsy has been demanding money from Joel in exchange for her silence.
This has gotten her in trouble with her new boss, Carla Connor, as the newcomer is always on the phone while working. Next week, Betsy causes even more chaos in Joel’s life by demanding more money. She leaves the factory early for lunch to meet Joel. However, this fumes Carla angrily, and she heads to the police station to talk to DS Lisa Swain.
Before the businesswoman could say anything, their conversation is interrupted by a call from Betsy. And guess what? The troubled teen is trapped in a dangerous part of town. And we definitely know who is behind it!
