Nina Wadia Opens Up About Her Personal Life
The Zainab Masood actress shared heartbreaking fears that a family goes through with a sick child in the family. The 55-year-old star spoke about this to the Daily Star and mentioned how her family’s life changed drastically after her she found out that her son had diabetes. She said, “Our lives changed dramatically straight after diagnosis. In the first couple of years, I barely slept, worried that he might hypo during the night so severely that he could die.”
While speaking to the publication, Wadia also added, “The level of worry is relentless and miserable. On an everyday level, things we didn’t have to think twice about became so complicated.” According to doctors, Type 1 diabetes is also known as juvenile diabetes. This is an autoimmune condition that occurs when the body mistakenly attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
Nina also reflected upon the struggles of travelling with her diabetic son. She said when her family plans a vacation, there is so much medication to pack, and above it they’re answerable to the security at the airport as to why Aidan’s body cannot go through body scanning, as it might turn his equipment off. This definitely sounds like a living nightmare for any parent, to see their kid go through so much every day. Kudos to Nina and her family for dealing with everything with such perseverance.
The former EastEnders star has written a little book for Key Stage 2 readers called ‘Bionic T1d,’ to support her kid. This reportedly came after Aidan was nicknamed Bionic at school after he had all new Tech on him because of his disease.
