Knock-Knock, Someone new is at the door of Walford. EastEnders has signed the actress and Footballers’ Wives legend Laila Rouass for an explosive storyline. The star best known for her role as Amber Gates on the iconic early 2000s footy drama will take up the role of new character Ayesha. Strictly Star Laila Rouass Joins The EastEnders Cast
Laila Rouass will be portraying the role of Ayesha for a guest stint on the BBC Soap. The 53-year-old star will arrive in Walford following an invitation from villainous Nish Panesar. It will soon become clear that she has a history with him, Suki and the rest of the Panesar clan.
The spoilers relay that Ayesha shares a history with Suki and Nish, but they haven’t stayed in touch for many years. We will see Nish taking help from his granddaughter Avani in finding someone online and it seems like Ayesha is the answer to those findings.
The popular Strictly Star has also appeared in Holby City as Sahira Shah called her stint in Walford ‘a lifelong dream come true.’ While discussing her appearance on the longest-running soap, Laila said, ‘I cannot tell you how excited I am to be in EastEnders! I was born in the East End and grew up there, and there was such a buzz when the show started. Even though I was little at the time, I can clearly remember the first episode and Doctor Legg arriving at the flat where Reg Cox had been murdered.’ Look at Rouass speaking the soap lingo; we love it!
Laila also shared how she has remained acquainted with Nish actor Navin Chowdhry for many years and is excited to work with him. Fans are going crazy about how this story will roll out once Panesars reunites with Ayesha.
As for Nish and Suki, the duo will meet a familiar face amid a tumultuous time in their family. Regular viewers know even though Nish is dying, he is making sure to wreak havoc all around him before he goes.

However, the whole Panesar clan seems to be plotting against eachother at this point. With Suki and Vinny trying to get Nish to sign the family business to them in his will and Priya Nandra-Hart planning to take revenge on the villain as she holds him, hostage, at the Minute Mart, the whole family is fighting with each other.
It seems like Ayesha’s arrival might make things worse for them soon! We will have Laila gracing our screens as Ayesha on 5th August, and we cannot wait to see what she brings to the table.
