Jason Morgan’s return to General Hospital breathed a new lease of life in the long-running ABC soap. Not only has Jason been a very popular character all alone, but he has also formed one of Daytime’s most loved pairings with Carly Spencer. Thus, when he returned to the fold, fans were super excited by the prospects of a reunion between him and Carly.
In fact, the perfectly timed breakup between Carly and Drew further fueled the possibility of Jason and Craly’s reunion. Alas! that never happened. We did find out that the reason for Jason’s absence was his attempt to protect Craly from the FBI. Thus, this much is evident that she is still his number one possibility, but he clearly does not want a romance with her.
But is that really true? Is it that Jason does not want to be in a relationship with Craly, or is it that he can’t be in one because of Sonny? Anyone who has followed General Hospital long enough knows that the second one is more likely. However, no matter how hard Jason tries to keep things platonic between him and Carly, he can’t really snub the fire he feels for her deep within.
It is much easier for him to control his desire for her while she is still single. But what will happen when Carly starts dating someone else? Especially, if that someone else is not Sonny? Jason may start to feel that his sacrifice was all for nothing! He gave up on his family, and his children for years just to protect Carly. He is still squirming under the FBI’s thumb just to keep her safe.
And then, she goes and starts romancing someone else? Maybe the fallen from grace, ex-WSB director – Jack Brennan! That’s certainly going to pinch! We know Carly and Brennan both have developed a soft spot for each other. He is a man of means, and it seems very likely that he’ll come through for Craly by deleting the evidence the FBI has against her.
If that happens, she’ll clearly be grateful to him, and that’ll for the perfect basis for a romance to begin. This could leave Jason seething, as he has been struggling for Carly for years, and then Brennan swoops in and walks away with the prize. That’s certainly going to crack something within him.

But could that crack be enough to push him toward a dark side? Could we see him go a little psychotic and emerge as a villain? Maybe he’ll go after Craly and Brennan, trying to break them apart as an obsessive lover! We’ll have to wait and find out!
