The Young and the Restless: Linden Ashby Reveals Excitement Over His Y&R Comeback as Cameron

The Young and the Restless fans were in for a jaw-dropping surprise at the end of the August 1 episode. They were taken aback when Linden Ashby made an unexpected comeback as Cameron Kristen. The menacing sociopath appeared before Sharon as a bloodied Cameron—despite Sharon having fatally stabbed him in 2023.  So, what’s the deal with this shocking return? Linden Ashby Talks Reprising His Role as Cameron 

The Young and the Restless actor first brought the notorious Cameron to life in 2003-04 as a menacing sociopath. Then, he returned for a brief run last year, earning him a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Performance. This time around, he popped back into Sharon’s visions. Currently, Sharon has been world upside down since she stopped taking her bipolar medication.

Moreover, this lapse has triggered a series of hallucinations. These include visions of her late daughter, Cassie, and some steamy encounters with her ex-husband, Nick. Similarly, Cameron returned as yet another figment of Sharon’s troubled psyche. In an exclusive chat with TV Insider, Ashby shared his excitement about the twist.

“It’s great because it’s not a resurrection or a ghost scenario. Instead, Cameron is a creation of Sharon’s mind.” Additionally, the fact that Cameron’s just a wild imagination acts as a unique twist, adding a new layer to the story. Back in May, the Y&R star told Digest that he found Cameron’s actions anything but subtle.

Linden added, “He’s a bad guy through and through and probably a bit insane.” Furthermore, he described Cameron’s obsession with Sharon as a “sick love” but one that’s genuinely felt. We reckon this new arc brings a fresh dynamic to the show. Ashby believes Cameron reflects Sharon’s internal struggles. He explained, “He pushes her to voice things she’s too scared to say out loud or do things she shouldn’t be doing.”

Meanwhile, reuniting with Y&R co-star Sharon Case (Sharon) has been a highlight for Linden. “She’s a dear friend who welcomes me back with open arms, and I return the sentiment with an open heart.” The seasoned actor returned to the CBS soap set in June and is currently still filming.
