They have their own share of outbursts and heated arguments. Per the same norm, Markle once gave her husband a sharp ten-word reply. WHAT? When Harry Was ‘Cruel’ to Meghan
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started their romance in 2016. Like any normal couple, they had their share of arguments. The Duke dished about their first big fight in his memoir, Spare, released in January last year. He recounted an incident where he was “cruel” to Meghan during a heated argument in December 2016.
The evening began on a high note, with Meghan showing him how to roast a chicken. Additionally, the couple enjoyed James Taylor and Nina Simone tunes with some wine. However, things worsened when the Invictus Games founder “snapped” at his wife. Harry admitted, “Maybe the wine went to my head. Maybe the weeks of battling the press had worn me down.”
He went on to elaborate on how the conversation took an unexpected turn as he became touchy and later angry. It turns out that the Suits actress said something, and Harry took it the wrong way. “It was partly a cultural difference, partly a language barrier, but I was also just over-sensitive that night,” he explained.
Subsequently, the Duke couldn’t take it and snapped at Markle, speaking to her harshly and cruelly. He recalled, “As the words left my mouth, I could feel everything in the room come to a stop.” As a result, Meghan walked out of the room and vanished for the next fifteen minutes. She came back with a warning, “[I] would never stand for being spoken to like that.”
Furthermore, the Duchess also asked where his anger had come from. “Did you overhear adults speak that way when you were growing up?” Sadly, Harry admitted that he had, but Meghan clarified that she wouldn’t tolerate such behaviour from a partner or co-parent. She also boldly objected to raising her kids in an environment of anger or disrespect.
According to Harry, this incident was a turning point that led him to seek therapy. He wrote, “It came from somewhere deep inside, somewhere that needed to be excavated.” He realised he could use some help with the job.
