Sooo, it turns out that Kate Middleton laid out some strict ground rules before agreeing to marry Prince William and officially join the royal family. Ever since the Princess of Wales stepped into the royal world back in 2011, she has been loyal to the crown.
Yet, while it’s safe to say that Kate has done a lot for the monarchy, she also sticks to her personal ethos of keeping her family a priority over everything. So, she laid down clear rules for the royal family. What were they? Read on to find out!

Kate Middleton was welcomed into the royal family after she married William. She has been a dedicated servant of the monarchy and a loving wife to her husband. Royal fans know that the Princess of Wales has done more than her fair share of royal engagements over the years, crucially she always put her children above the needs of the institution. This led to Kate setting some clear life rules that she would stick to when she joined the royals.
It seems like the royal mother-of-three has concerns about her job and the needs of her children, as she told the royals that her kids will always be her number one priority. Royal expert and author Robert Jobson made this intriguing revelation in his new book, ‘Catherine: The Princess Of Wales.’ He wrote, Kate knew her mind and “established some fundamental life rules that she would stick to when she joined ‘The Firm.’”
Kate is known for being an extremely present mom to her kids, and reportedly, she laid down her terms while she was still pregnant with Princess Charlotte in 2015. The Princess of Wales asked her husband, William, to present ground rules to both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

As per Jobson, Kate “wanted space to grow into her role and said she needed more time to adapt to the peculiarities of royal life. “She was clear from the outset that she would not be pigeonholed into carrying out particular duties and insisted on having her full quota of maternity leave, away from the glare of the media and the public.”
The royal author also added that Kate Middleton’s priority would always be her family. Just as she prioritises her children, she also is firm on focusing on her health as she continues her treatment for cancer, a diagnosis she announced in March.
