It was in 2017 that Meghan Markle first realised her power as a ‘fashion influencer.’ On her first official royal engagement, a walkabout in Nottingham with her new fiance, Prince Harry, she carried a beautiful tote bag by a family fashion brand, Strathberry. She soon learned that the bag had sold out, and the brand was able to expand its workforce as a result of the financial boost.
While speaking to the New York Times about this incident recently, the Duchess said, “It changed everything in terms of how I then looked at putting an outfit together.” Looking at how her clothing might make a positive change, Meghan decided to give attention to lesser-known brands, often with women at the helm. In recent years, the mother-of-two has repeatedly used her fashion choices to send messages.
She also told the publication that she supports designers that are her friends. Along with this, Markle also looks out for ways to assist small and upcoming local brands. As per reports, Strathberry is one of the companies that owes its success to the Duchess.
After she carried it, they sold 400 of them within a day. Another brand that she supported was Colombian-based designer, Johanna Ortiz. Meghan wore her pieces on several occasions and it is a go-to label for her striking outfits.

Meghan told the outlet that when people are looking for things online, she tries to find new designers, especially in different territories. She also added that she looks for them organically and only supports them if she finds them meaningful. One such brand is Cesta Collective, a label that creates bags in Rwanda by women. The Duchess invested in the company recently, too.
This brand went viral after Meghan wore the drawstring Bucket Bag during a dinner date with Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz in Santa Barbara, with the bag quickly getting sold out.
