Jake Moon Actor Joel Talks About His ICONIC Comeback
With the soap opera approaching its 40th anniversary, we are getting to see the OG characters back on our screens. EastEnders has aired another shock return after 18 years, which has left the fans stunned. The soap bosses surprised their viewers with Jake Moon’s unexpected comeback. We saw him reuniting with his long-lost love, Chrissie Watts, following her prison release.
Even though the fans thought Jake was dead in prison almost two decades ago, it turns out he was in a relationship with Chrissie all this while. The couple are now off to start a new life together away from Square, and actor Joel Beckett has finally revealed the details of his time at the BBC soap’s set while filming his special appearance.
While speaking to BBC, when asked about how feels about his return after 18 years away. Beckett said, “It felt lovely to be back. Although it was a new set, it felt really familiar, and it felt like I’d never been away. You never forget Albert Square.” Furthermore, his gig was only for a day which made him wonder about ‘What can they possibly film in a day?’ He then spoke about how he knew his storyline would revolve around Chrissie.
Although Joel’s time on set was really brief, he seemed to enjoy the chance to be back in Walford after almost two decades. While discussing the new set at Elstree Studios, the famous actor joked and highlighted that everything wasn’t as wobbly as before.

He said, The Square was just a bit sharper, and it felt as though it had been upgraded although the sun sets in a different place. It’s quite amazing to go back there and to be on a different set in a different spot, yet everything felt exactly the same.”
Even though Jake didn’t get to meet relative Alfie Moon during his cameo, Joel did meet with Shane Richie while shooting with Tracy-Ann Oberman. When asked if viewers will get to see Jake Moon again in Walford, the OG star got all coy and teased, “Never say never. I’m sure the audience will let me know if they’d like to see me again, but yes, never say never.”
