Moira Dingle’s Brain Tumour Diagnosis Sparks Family Drama
The upcoming week finally reveals what’s actually up with Moira Dingle. Turns out, she has a meningioma, a type of brain tumour that’s been causing her mood swings, erratic behaviour, and memory loss recently. Fortunately, this tumour isn’t cancerous. However, it’s still dangerous.
As the week continues, Moira’s family gets divided over treatment. With time, she grows frustrated with them constantly giving their opinions on her treatment options. Later, Cain and Moira go to see a neurosurgeon. He advises that the best plan is to ‘watch and wait’ for now to monitor the brain mass.
But Cain loses it and starts pushing the doctor for immediate surgery. Although his anger is understandable, he misses the bigger picture of Moira’s overall quality of life. Show producer Sophie Roper and the soap’s writers have collaborated with charities Brainstrust and The Brain Tumour Charity to ensure a realistic and authentic portrayal.
Natalie J Robb (Moira) is grateful for being entrusted with such a challenging role. She reveals, “Moira and her family have an extremely challenging time ahead.” Also, she hopes to represent the struggle accurately and respectfully, honouring those who are truly affected by brain tumours.
