Harry Makes Royals Deviate from Protocol
Prince Harry recently celebrated his special day on the other side of the world. Back home, the royals did their part to wish the Duke, but where did they go wrong? According to the Mail, the Royals usually don’t give social media love for the birthdays of non-working members. However, they made an exception for Harry’s big forty.
In their defense, it’s all part of their “tradition” of giving a shoutout for “significant” birthdays. Additionally, they did the same for Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew’s big milestone celebrations. Richard Eden, a diary editor, called it “intriguing.” They wrote on X,” Buckingham Palace has previously said birthday wishes were sent on social media only to ‘working royals’.”
So, this feels like a bit of a rule-bender. Moreover, the choice of picture, which was from Harry’s 2018 visit to a startup in Dublin, makes it more interesting. How? The Suit actress was with her husband at the event but didn’t make it into the shot. It looks like the photographer cropped her out of the picture.
Meanwhile, The Independent reports that Buckingham Palace said the photo wasn’t altered. Apparently, photographer Jimmy Rainford had two versions of the portrait. There was one with a wider view showing Meghan and others, and another closer shot zoomed in on Harry. It seems the royals went with the closer crop for the birthday message.
The Duke of Sussex celebrated his 40th with a private bash in Montecito, California, surrounded by his closest pals and family. In addition, he is set to keep the party going with friends abroad. With all the drama between Harry and the royal family, these birthday messages can be seen as a possible peace offering.
