Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again dealt with a major setback in Duke’s home country after a London gallery refused to put up the couple’s picture. In a surprising move, a spokesperson for the National Portrait Gallery in central London has admitted it won’t put up a photo of the Duke and Duchess that it acquired earlier this year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced a devastating blow after a London Gallery refused to put up their picture that they acquired a few months ago. This picture in discussion is a black and white portrait which shows the estranged royal couple on each other’s side at the opening of the One Young World summit in Manchester two years ago. It was taken by Misan Harriman, who is also a close friend of Harry & Meghan.
A spokesperson for the Gallery said, “The portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was acquired for the Gallery’s photographs collection in May 2024. Following cataloguing and its digitisation, the portrait was added to our website at the beginning of this month. There are no current plans to display the portrait in the Gallery.” It is beloved that The National Portrait Gallery holds one of the world’s best collections of portraits, and its patron, Kate, has no say over what goes on the wall.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s portrait comes after The Mail on Sunday revealed that the Royal Collection has no pictures of Meghan in its archives of more than a million objects spanning five centuries of the monarchy.
It should be noted that photographs of royals do not become a part of the collection automatically; they are often donated by the photographer or specially commissioned.
