Kate Middleton joined her husband, Prince William, for the couple’s first joint royal engagement this week since completing her chemotherapy sessions. The Princess of Wales has been pictured for the first time since she released an update on her cancer diagnosis. The photos were shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official social media platforms, which shows Kate hugging the 16-year-old Liz Hatton, who is fighting cancer just like herself. The teen shared her story with the royal couple and told them that she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer earlier this year.
According to the BBC, Liz was given between six months and three years to live. The aspiring photographer was invited by William to photograph the investitures as part of her ‘photography bucket list.’ Kate and William expressed their feelings for her in the caption and wrote, “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength have inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us.”

Liz also took to Instagram to share the photos and express her gratitude to the royals for their kindness. “Such lovely, genuine, and kind people. I’m over the moon that my family and I had this experience,” she wrote in her stories. This picture is Kate’s first official photograph after she confirmed that she was returning to work after the conclusion of her chemotherapy treatment at the beginning of September.
