It has been about two years since we last saw Isobel Steele on Emmerdale. The talented actress famously portrayed Liv Dingle on the long-running ITV drama. However, on the soap’s 50th anniversary, the character made a dramatic exit in heartwrenching scenes when the village was hit by a storm.
In 2022, a horrific storm hit the Yorkshire village and claimed multiple lives. Liv Dingle was among those who lost their lives. The shocking scene saw Liv getting swept away in the storm and clashing against David’s shop. If that wasn’t enough, a caravan then came rolling down and crushed her against the wall.
Liv couldn’t make it through the tragedy. The paramedics felt defeated because there was nothing they could do. Even if they moved her, the blood loss would be so severe that she would die then and there. Sadly, Liv Dingle breathed her last in the storm’s aftermath. The decision to kill off the character came after actress Isobel Steele decided that she wanted to take a break from acting and focus on her music career.
“I’ve always wanted to do it,” she told the media. However, the hectic filming schedule left her with no time to focus on her musical dreams. Thus, after essaying Liv Dingle for six years on Emmerdale, she decided it was time. “It feels like a new chapter, new things to talk about. I’m slowly burning through the songs I’ve written because I’ve written too many now, I’m trying to get them off my chest and get them out,” Isobel added.
The change in her career path has also brought a change in her appearance. Isobel took to Instagram to reveal her new look, which is poles apart from anything she has sported before. She posted a series of photographs that feature her in a shaggy mullet-inspired hair-do. The fans are absolutely loving it, and their compliments in her comments section stand testimony to it.
