Marti Pellow is a name well known in the music circuit, especially as an 80s rockstar! Now, Coronation Street and the popular artist are coming together for a very special cause. The musical legend is collaborating with ITV presenter, Lorraine Kelly, for a new single. The charity single will also feature a choir of women who discovered they had breast cancer after watching Lorrain’es chat show.
Recently, Marti Pellow was seen alongside Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor, Claire Sweeney, and Sally Carman. “Change + Check is a really important campaign and in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this is all so fantastic,” Sally enthused. Meanwhile, Claire shared a personal story about how started getting pains in her breast a while ago.
Furthermore, Claire Sweeney explained that she immediately went for a check-up, and thankfully everything turned out to be okay. However, she shared that unfortunately, a very close friend of hers did not get as lucky. “She went and got checked and unfortunately she did have cancer,” the actress revealed.
The Corrie star urged that women need to be aware of whether it’s a pain or a sensation and that they need not delay their checkups. For the past six years, ITV’s morning program has been promoting awareness of the issue, by promoting the Change And Check campaign. Last year, the show’s charity single became very successful. Thus, expectations are high from this year’s charity single too.
“‘It was fantastic because we were in a proper, real, true recording studio,” Lorraine mused. “‘It was joyful, and the fact that we’re all in it together, this amazing sisterhood along with Marti. It just felt very, very, very special,” she added. Meanwhile, Marti shared that everyone will feel something very positive at the end of the number.
