The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal world in 2020, and they have been residing in the United States with their children ever since. Royal watchers know that the monarch’s family usually stays well clear of getting involved in the politics of any country. However, Prince Harry and Meghan’s one bold move put the whole royal family in jeopardy.
In the upcoming US presidential elections, the Sussexes issued a statement urging Americans to make sure they registered to vote in the contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The duo didn’t endorse any candidate this time, and it is because the couple, during the last elections, caused anger with one bold move. In 2020, they appeared in a video message and urged Americans to ‘vote against hate speech.’

In the video, Prince Harry also explained how he wouldn’t be able to vote and had never voted in the UK as a member of the Royal Family. Working royals in the UK usually refrain from commenting on politics or voting in elections. Although the estranged royal couple didn’t mention anyone by name, these remarks were made in reference to Mr. Trump, and therefore, they ended up endorsing Mr. Biden.
This led to some sources claiming that it was a breach of the Sandringham Summit agreement, which was written up after the Sussexes’ quit royal duties. At the time, royal aides told The Sunday Times that the remarks broke the pledge, leaving the Royal Family “wringing their hands.” ‘The feeling is it’s a violation of the agreement,’ one source said.
