Ex-EastEnders icon Cheryl has revealed she was so broke earlier this year that she ended up at a food bank. The actress known for playing karaoke-loving Heather Trott on the BBC soap from 2007-2012 was left in tears as she confessed about not being able to afford eating. The legend sobbed as she discussed her financial woes on ITV’s This Morning show. During Tuesday’s episode, Fergison bravely spoke about her struggles with debt.
She said, “There is a circumstance that started this. which I can’t talk about at this moment in time, but it started to spiral. The only way I can say it is I was conned out of a humongous amount of money.” The soap star also had to sell her own house and as of now she’s living up north and renting. She used Citizens Advice for help when she got into massive financial stress.

Cheryl also admitted that while working in EastEnders, she had a lot of money, which she used to treat her friends and family to holidays they never had. This was a far cry from her time on the soap when she “didn’t even look at the price of things.” The 60-year-old felt ashamed about not being able to provide for herself and her family and expressed that it was one of the hardest things she had to do.
She also revealed that she thought she’d be on the BBC soap forever, just like Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, but life had other plans. Earlier this year, Heather courageously opened up about her financial issues, and we hope that it all gets better for her soon.
