Emmerdale fans, this week in the Dales promises some jaw-dropping twists that you simply won’t want to miss. A shocking revelation is about to surface, one that could shatter the fragile peace in the village and change the course of several characters’ lives. With Emmerdale spoilers hinting at a dangerous kidnapping and an emotional family reunion, fans are in for a rollercoaster of drama.
Ross Barton Finds Himself in Hot Water
Ross Barton’s return to the Dales has been nothing short of dramatic. From his unlicensed fighting escapades to clashing with Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Mack (Lawrence Robb), Ross (Michael Parr) hasn’t exactly slipped back into village life quietly. Most recently, he brought devastating news of Rebecca’s tragic death, leaving Aaron (Danny Miller) and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) reeling and Seb’s future uncertain as he’s whisked off to live with a mysterious aunt.
Now, Ross faces another crisis as his past actions come back to haunt him. Jade, a volatile figure from the illegal fighting ring, kidnaps April in a bid for revenge, taking her to the very spot where her mum, Donna, met her tragic end. Speaking about these high-stakes scenes, actor Michael Parr shared: “It’s panic stations for Ross. When there is a kid involved, everyone starts to panic, especially when you throw a character like Jade into the situation. He knows that he doesn’t really have anybody to turn to, as the blame would come back on him. When he knows where April has been taken to, he knows that it’s probably not going to end well!”
Michael Parr Calls for Iconic Returns
While Ross struggles to navigate the fallout of his actions, Michael Parr is already imagining what could make his storyline even more gripping: the return of several Emmerdale icons. During a recent interview, Michael revealed the three characters he’s most eager to see back on our screens. The first is Anthony Quinlan, who played Ross’s older brother, Pete.
Pete left the Dales in 2020 after losing nearly everyone he cared about. But Michael believes it’s time for a Barton reunion, saying: “I’ve got no Quinny backing me up. Quinny played Pete Barton, my older brother, and he’s just like my older brother in real life. We don’t see each other as much as we used to, but we’re still in touch.”
Michael credited Anthony for helping him and co-star Joe Gill settle into their roles: “He really showed Joe and me the ropes. There were so many things we didn’t know what to do and how to handle, and Quinny is like a lovely, soft, fun person to be around.” Next on Michael’s wish list is Ryan Hawley, whose portrayal of Robert Sugden left an indelible mark on the soap.
Fans have been clamoring for Robert’s return, and Michael agrees it’s what the audience wants: “The fan favorite is going to be Robert Sugden, isn’t it? I would love to bring him back just to satisfy the audience because I see how thirsty they are for Ryan Hawley’s return.”
With Aaron moving on with John (Oliver Farnworth), Robert’s return could throw a massive spanner in the works, especially if Seb comes back with him.
Finally, Michael hopes to see Liz Estensen reprise her role as Diane Sugden, calling her the “biggest giggler” he’s ever worked with: “What happened to Liz Estensen? I would love to work with her just because I’ve never worked with anybody so much who – when you’re acting, and the scenes are going well – is more giggly than anyone. But she was like the biggest giggler that I’ve ever worked with.”
With Ross embroiled in a life-or-death situation and Michael Parr hinting at iconic returns, it’s safe to say the Dales are far from quiet this week. As Jade’s revenge plot unfolds and April’s fate hangs in the balance, viewers can expect nail-biting drama. And with talk of Pete, Robert, and Diane’s potential comebacks, could we be seeing the beginnings of a Barton family revival?
