Princess Kate is keen to scrap a royal tradition that’s more than a century old because she thinks it’s ‘weird,’ according to a source. Royal watchers know that the royals exchange presents with each other on Christmas eve rather than December 25 ever since Queen Victoria’s reign. The reason behind them exchanging gifts on December 24 is due to their German heritage.
However, the mother-of-three wants to shake up Windsor’s festive rituals by calling on an old custom. While speaking to the Daily Beast, an insider revealed, “Kate isn’t too keen on the idea. Kate has always found the presents on Christmas Eve thing weird.” They also spoke about how this custom will definitely be out the window once Prince William is running things officially.

As for this year’s Christmas, the source added, “I imagine it will continue this year at Sandringham in some shape or form, but everything is going to be much more relaxed and have a middle-class flavor at Anmer Hall.” We can all expect the Waleses to do a proper gift exchange with each other and their kids on Christmas Day.
