Long-term Corrie fans, the latest Coronation Street spoilers are bringing back one of Gail’s husbands, who passed away back in 2003. Now, it seems like he is also going to play a major role in Gail’s exit plot. But can you guess who it is, and why is he coming back again? Is Gain no longer getting a happy exit from the cobbles? We don’t know yet – let’s see.
Do You Remember Him?
It seems like Coronation Street is planning for a probable ghostly return for Gail’s ex-husband, Richard Hillman, the notorious serial killer. Even though he died back in 2003, the latest spoilers are hinting at a return.
The character was killed off in a car crash, landing straight into a canal when he tried to kidnap & murder Gail and her children. But we can’t connect the dots here – why is he returning now from the dead? Or has he never died in the first place?
The Much-Shocking Return
As reported by The Sun, Brian Capron will be reprising his role as Richard Hillman during Gail’s exit plot. But we still do not have any information regarding how it will be recreated and when exactly – as nothing has been officially announced by the show makers.
Last year, in an interview, Capron recalled his time at the Street and talked about his iconic exit over 20 years ago. Though he acclaimed it as luck that he got to play a major role in his 50s – we knew it was his sheer talent. But now, in his 70s, he is still aging like a fine wine and working.
The actor said, “I have to thank the writers. I was just in the right place at the right time. I’m very grateful to Richard and Coronation Street because the role gave me a leg up. To get something like Coronation Street in my 50s gave me another 20 years. I’m [over] 70 years old, and I’m still working. I’m incredibly lucky!” It will be interesting to see in upcoming Coronation Street spoilers how everything adds up and how his role gets portrayed during Gail’s exit.
