Actor Jurell Carter, who played Nate on Emmerdale, will appear in his second big project after leaving the ITV soap. After leaving the soap, he did the voiceover for Sephora Christmas adverts. Recently, he landed another new role: he will star in a UK-touring production of Boys from the Blackstuff. Now, let’s get into the details and see how it all happened.
Jurell’s New Gig
The stage play is set in the 1980s in Liverpool and was adapted from Alan Bleasdale’s 1982 drama. It follows a group of five unemployed individuals as they “navigate a system that offers little hope.” You are probably wondering what Carter’s role will be—well, he will play Loggo. Other characters in the show include George Caple as Chrissie, Jay Johnson as Yosser, Ged McKenna as George, and Mark Womack as Dixie.
There are other cast members in the show as well who are Amber Blease, Reiss Barber, Kyle Harrison-Pope, Sean Kingsley, Jamie Peacock, Sian Polhill-Thomas, Graham Elwell, Elliot Kingsley, and Victoria Oxley. The production is under the direction of Kate Wasserberg and will appear at the Theatre Royal Windsor on January 29, 2025. Starting from there, they will make stops in Richmond, Bromley, Bath, Blackpool, Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, Cheltenham, Derby, Salford, Guildford, Leeds, Newcastle, Colchester, Doncaster, Stoke, Brighton, Canterbury, Mold, and will finally end at Theatr Clwyd.
What Carter Said About Emmerdale
Talking about his exit from the soap, Jurell Carter referred to it as a conscious choice he made in his career. He said, “It feels like I reached a point where I had to take the leap – it’s now or never. I feel like I’ve reached the point where it’s now or never. If I don’t do it now, I’ll always wonder, ‘What if?’. I just didn’t want that feeling. I feel like five years is the perfect time for me to try and move onto something else.”
We agree with Carter. If he hadn’t exited Emmerdale back then, we would have never seen his other skills. The actor has definitely done well for himself after leaving the show, and we can’t wait to see where he lands next. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Emmerdale updates.
