Coronation Street spoilers have confirmed Dee-Dee Bailey’s plans for her baby. Previously, we saw Dee-Dee unable to decide whether to keep her baby because it made her recall Joel. But after learning about baby Frankie, something changed in her. Now, it seems like she has finally reached a decision regarding her baby and is now confiding in her father, Ed, and brother, Michael.
Dee-Dee’s Decision Regarding Her Baby
In the show’s latest episode, we see Dee-Dee talking to her father, Ed, and brother, Michael, about putting the child up for adoption. She came to know last month that she was pregnant with Joel’s child, and her initial thought was to terminate her pregnancy. She was unsure about raising Joel’s baby alone because of his ex’s villainous nature and was killed in September 2023 by Lauren Bolton.
However, Dee-Dee’s plans soon change after she learns about Lauren’s baby, Frankie’s health condition. Frankie was suddenly hospitalized because of bruises all over his body. While Lauren thought it to be Gus & Anthea’s doings, soon the doctors confirmed that the tot was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. The only way to save the baby is to find an ideal bone marrow donor, and Dee-Dee’s unborn baby could be a possible match.
Reason Behind Changing the Decision
Initially, Lauren proposed to be a donor for Frankie. However, it was not possible for her as she had Hepatitis C from a piercing when she was 13. That only leaves the possibility for Dee-Dee’s baby, who is Frankie’s half-sibling. In the Friday episode, we see her visiting the abortion clinic, but it seems like she changes her mind from there. Later, she goes to see Lauren and assures her, “I didn’t have the abortion. I couldn’t do it. When I got into the room, I just couldn’t lie down. It’s like my body wouldn’t physically let me.”
Dee-Dee added, “Perhaps it’s my faith – this desperate hope that any good can come from all of this. And then there’s Frankie. Maybe we can help him, maybe we can’t, but I want to try at least.” Lauren was overwhelmed by the news and ended up hugging Dee-Dee instead. Then, they went home to make plans regarding the situation of transplant coordinators. Later, when she gets back home, Dee-Dee informs Ed and Michael about her long-term plans.
Dee-Dee told them, “I’m not keeping the baby. I’m going to put it up for adoption. I have thought it through properly – it’s all I’ve thought about. I have decided, and I know this is the right decision. It’s done.” Though Ed and Michael are not sure if Dee-Dee is making the right decision, she seems to stand strong regarding her decision.
