Coronation Street icon Sam Aston revealed if he’ll be staying on the cobbles amid the wave of big exits. The actor who plays the role of beloved Chesney Brown has weighed in on the changes at Corrie. Ever since the beginning of 2025, viewers know that several actors, including Colson Smith, Sue Cleaver, and Charlotte Jordan, have announced their departure. Along with this, we recently witnessed Helen Worth and Luca Toolan leaving the show.
Aston addressed the recent exits in an interview and said, “I just think we’re in a period at the minute where a couple of the big characters are going.” He also spoke about losing Helen, who played Gail Platt for 50 years. He appreciated her for all her work on cobbles. Despite the shocking shake-ups, the Chesney actor reassured fans about his own future on the ITV soap.
While speaking to The Sun, he mentioned even though he’s not filming right now, he’s still there. “I’m not written out for this or anything like that. I’ve got a bit of work in the pipeline coming up. So it’ll just depend on how far I go and how busy I can potentially get,” he added. One thing that the popular star has in the pipeline is competing in the current season of Dancing on Ice, which started this week.

The star also spoke about his upcoming storyline and said that his man-in-the-van will continue once he returns. When it comes to his own future on the soap, Sam has admitted he’d love to reach the five-decade mark and is already halfway there.
