The latest Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that a villain will return to the cobbles after almost ruining Amy Barlow’s life. Amy has been through a lot already. Now, when everything is falling into place for her, there’s another storm waiting for her. Who could it be?
How Will This Return Affect Amy?
Two years ago, Aaron Sandford raped Amy Barlow, and it soon became a huge deal for the village. While she has now tackled the trauma and is moving on with her life—her rapist’s dad Eric Sandford is going to make a comeback very soon and this is going to shake her life, once again. Actor Craig Cheetham has reprised his role as Eric in the soap amid ITV’s ongoing cash crisis, and we will soon see him on the screens.
As per Digital Spy, Eric’s return is going to be brief and he will probably be seen only for a couple of episodes—but why is he coming back after two years? Whatever the reason may be, things are not looking good for Amy. Besides Amy, the Barlow clan will be left disturbed by the sudden news—as Eric is partly responsible for what Aaron did to Amy in 2023.
Will Aaron Repeat His Mistake?
Eric’s character on the show was developed as an alcoholic and abusive father to Aaron. He even physically assaulted his son as a child—and maybe Amy’s sexual assault by Aaron was just its repercussions. Now that he is returning, will Aaron’s assaulting nature be back, too? If this happens, then who will fall prey to it again—will he target Amy again?
The last time when the rape news went public, the town was divided between Aaron and Amy. While Amy was clearly a victim of the assault—Aaron protested to prove his innocence. Later, Amy became the voice of many rape victims and started hosting her own radio show. If things get repeated—how will she cope with it? Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments below.
