Coronation Street actor Maureen Lipman has already announced her exit from the show, but there is some major speculation about her exit. Since the rumour of ITV’s cash crisis has surfaced—fans have been wondering if Maureen has been axed from the show. But now, the actress has finally addressed these doubts.
Maureen Addresses Speculations
Maureen Lipman has finally cleared the clouds and said she won’t be a regular cast member anymore on the cobbles. However, she will not leave the soap anytime soon. She will be on a recurring contract with the show and keep making guest appearances. When asked about her reason for leaving, she said that she just wanted to have a life and spend some time with the love of her life.
We have already seen, Maureen will soon be off to study law, as prompted by her friend Roy. This will serve as her primary exit storyline. Evelyn has been really enthusiastic about her law career, has applied to universities, and is even up for induction.
But in the upcoming episodes, we will see her losing focus as she has to care for Tyrone’s daughters. In fact, she will soon be moving to the university dorms to focus on her law studies. This will serve as a perfect exit plot for the actress.
Though we will miss the actress like her friend Roy, we are eager to see what awaits Maureen. While talking to Lorraine, she even jokes, “What if all the university students started dressing up like Maureen?”
She was definitely a breath of fresh air on Coronation Street, and we will definitely miss her—but it’s a relief that she is not gone permanently. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily; we will let you know about all the comings and goings of the soaps.
