Dan Feuerriegel is one of the most loved stars on Days of Our Lives. He portrays EJ DiMera on the soap and has been a mainstay for quite some time. Over the years, EJ has seen many ups and downs in his reel life; similarly, Dan has also gone through some really life-altering incidents, One of which happened at the young age of seventeen and is still impacting his life. Dan recently opened up that he had to get a pacemaker for his heart at the age of 17.
The Days of Our Lives star recently appeared on a podcast where he talked about his career and a major health issue he had in his younger days. The podcast is called “What’s your limp.” It wants to help the listeners learn that they aren’t alone in their struggles. It also aims at giving them tools and healthy coping mechanisms to better deal with their struggles.
The podcast’s official Instagram account shared a clip from Dan Feuerriegel’s podcast that touched on his struggles from his early years. In the clip, Ross asked Dan why he received a pacemaker when he was only 17 years old. “My heart rate was beating on the intrinsic heart rate. Which is the body’s underlying natural rhythm.” The star explained. Furthermore, Dan explained that he was sleeping a lot more during that time. He was also prone to dizzy spells.
After visiting a cardiologist, they realized that he needed a pacemaker. The actor shared that the first year he got his pacemaker, he had to go through three operations. He pointed that he did not really feel very different after get it installed. But then, with time, he understood that it matters when you sleep. It ensures that your heart rate does not go so slow that you pass away in your sleep.
That must have been a very life-changing experience at such a young age. However, it is wonderful to see that Dan did not let it affect the quality of his life.
