The episode began with the aftermath of the brutal Vic blaze as Stacey tried to help a trapped Martin. We also saw Sonia struggling as she went into labour.
Help soon arrived for Martin, who confessed his love for Stacey and later lost consciousness. Stacey kept requesting Martin to keep fighting for his life as the paramedics gave him some Morphine. The beloved Walford vegetable trader gained consciousness, declared his love for the cafe owner again, and proposed to her. After looking at the details and situation, she said, ‘Yes.’
As Martin planned a beautiful life with Stacey in the countryside, Stacey soon realised that doctors were not optimistic about his survival. They then told Martin he might suffer from crush syndrome, and as soon as the metal bar is lifted – his kidney might fail, or he might have a cardiac arrest. After sensing that he might make it out alive, he delivered a heartfelt speech for Stacey and told her he has been in love with her since he first saw her.
The duo confessed their love for each other one last time as the beam was lifted. As Stacey let out a cry, Ruby dropped to her knees outside in the Square. This marks the end of James Bye’s stint on the soap, and the actor even took to Instagram to pay tribute to his character.
