There has been an unexpected casting shakeup on Home and Away. After being on the soap for 32 years, Lynne McGranger has decided to call it quits. The 72 year old actress is one of the longest-serving female actors in the Australian soap scene. She will be leaving it all behind later on in the year.
She started on the soap in 1993 and over the years became a fan favourite. Over the years, she has been a part of various storylines that focused on different issues including alcoholism, breast cancer, and false imprisonment among many.
Fans missed her last year when the actress took some time off for a surgery to remove her overactive thyroid. But, she bounced back from it and really won our hearts. However, now, her exit is going to be more permanent.
Talking about this exit, the actress says that after almost 33 years of playing her dream role, and working with people she absolutely loves and respects, she is feeling rather bittersweet about leaving best and the longest gig of her life.
Speaking further about it, she says that she is forever grateful. She thinks it’s the best production crew in the world and she thinks that the writers are genius. She is very proud of all the storylines she has done and above all, she is very thankful to all the fans who have given her all the love and support.
All her fans are feeling incredibly bittersweet about the whole thing. One fan took ontos social media to say that they think Lynne is an icon, and they will miss hearing “Girlie” or other catchphrases from her.” A fan couldn’t believe that this was happening and took onto the social media to ask- “Oh no! Why?”
Over the years, the actress has become a household name and now the fact tha she might not be around anymore, is truly heartbreaking. However, we also believe that she has done everything there was to do and made her mark. It will be fun to see what new things Lynne McGranger does next.
