EastEnders is about to bring back the mystery of Shireen’s disappearance next week, and Nicola is about to be subjected to a lot of acquisitions. As the anniversary of the disappearance is approaching, it’s getting harder for Harry to move forward— budget, it seems like Nicola is trying to keep everything under control.
But can she? Laura Doddington, who plays Nicola, has stated that her character is dealing with far more than the audience realise. She suggested that Nicola is under immense pressure, which is making it hard for her to keep things hidden.
Nicola Faces Growing Pressure
Laura explained that Nicola is focused on supporting Harry as he is having a hard time dealing with Shireen’s disappearance anniversary. She stressed the fact that Nicola wants to be there for his son as she knows how much this situation still affects him.
However, while Nicola tries to appear strong, she is struggling to manage everything happening around her. She suggested that Nicola’s own actions are adding to her stress. The more she watches Harry suffer, the harder it becomes to keep her past from catching up with her.
The situation takes a worse turn when Shireen’s brother Asad shows up at the garage to confront Harry. Instead of blaming him, Asad says he no longer believes Harry was responsible for what happened. However, he then stuns everyone by accusing Nicola and Teddy of being behind Shireen’s disappearance.
Laura Hinted More
Laura hinted that Nicola is dealing with more than just the accusations about Shireen. Nicola has already been involved in several secrets and deceptions. She has tried to cover up her connections to Ravi Gulati’s drug dealings, kept the truth about Barney’s paternity hidden, and even threatened Zack Hudson when he wanted to expose her.
Laura suggested that while Nicola claims to be protecting her children, she is also protecting herself. She implied that Nicola is now struggling to maintain control of the situation and the pressure is becoming harder to manage.
Lastly, Laura indicated that Nicola’s biggest challenge is yet to come. She suggested that Nicola will try to keep things from falling apart but as the accusations are piling up, the truth may not stay hidden longer.
